Thank you Theo for bringing your beautiful family to share Allison’s birthday with us. Hubby’s like you should be treasured!
Jared & Dominic, you boys are more than welcome to come fly with us again I really enjoyed your company!
Archie & Matlabo, thank you for you patience. Bad weather lead to us postponing your first flight, but luckily Mother nature woke up in a good mood on Saturday morning.
Balloons are weather dependant, strong winds and damp weather lowers the safety of flying in a hot air balloon.
And I quote Frank Bouwer (Pilot in command on 2 October):
“It is better being down here and wishing you were up there, then being up there and wishing you were down here”

Flight 25 September 2010
What a lovely flight!!!
Our day started out with 15 excited guests and 1 very nervous Pierre Vuilleumier
A BIG thank you to Ryanie, Guy, Babs, Liana, Werner, Wessel, Lizmari, Pierre , Ian, Sally, Dot, Lauren, Schalk, Kasia, Halina and Alastair for joining us on this beautiful spring morning.
The sunrise on this particular morning was spectacular!!
The kind of sunrise that inspires Poets & Songwriters
I have been to a lot of places in my life, and I have seen many beautiful things but the awesomeness of a Magaliesberg sunrise will never be beaten in my book.

Some of us never have the change to see an elephant let alone touch and interact with it.
Its size and misunderstood behaviour leads most people to be afraid of these gentle giants.
Now you have the chance to learn more about, and interact with Loxodonta africana the African elephant.
The experience starts with a very educational DVD and lecture from one of the elephant staff, where after the guests are taken to the elephants to feed them oranges, touch and kiss the gentle giants.
This is a truely wonderful experience, unfortunately no children are allowed to join under the ages of 12.
You will see these “soccer stars” doing their all star moves making even Mr Booth look like a amature.
These animals eat about 300Kg’s of food per day, so feeding them is a costly business. The elephant staff are very greatful for visitors who come to Askari, because every Rand is used to house and take care of these two magnificent creatures.

On the 24th of September 2010 Sun Fun launched its Ivory package.
This packages gives the guests the whole hot air balloon experience of about 4 hours, where after our guests go on a 2 hour educational elephant interaction. Teaching them more about these wonderful animals and providing them with the opportunity to touch and feed and even KISS them.
But let us start at how the morning begins:
Our guests arrived at Whispering Pines Lodge @ 5:45 Friday morning. They were delighted to find two balloons ready and waiting for them.
Clarissa, Robin, Dipika & Bradley hopped into one of the baskets, while Westley, Sheena, Derek, Beverley, Pieter, Elize, Peter & Wendy got into the other.
Our flight took off at around 6:00 with a beautiful sunrise welcoming a fresh spring morning.
Upon landing our guests enjoyed some refreshing orange juice and sparkling wine while swopping stories about what they experience and how they felt after the flight’s tranquility.

These words rang true when Garet and Marike got onboard our flight on 19 September 2010.
Congratulations to the two of you on your engagement! May this be the start of a lifetime full of happiness and love!
Albert & Miranda, Hennie & Lizette also joined us for the morning’s flight. Happy birthday Hennie may the blessings and prosperity of the year ahead bore you!
Like any other special occasion, be it an 50th anniversary or engagement, a lot of planning goes into this special day. Garet had everything in order, beautiful ring, hot air balloon ride, charming lady and this all made for an experience that neither of them will ever forget.
